True. One of the things that's been interesting to revisit is the gloom and doom perspectives from Europe, particuarly Germany, after WWII. Many though the occupation was lost, that the Nazis were resurging and that US policies were hopelessly out of touch with reality. There was lots of pressure to just give up and pull out. It's a lesson in patience and having a just cause behind you. It took almost 50 more years to completely liberate Germany and we are just now pulling our troops out.

It's also notable how few people realize that the ultimate objective of our "opposition" in the Middle East is control of the oil fields and the subsequent destruction of the US economy. Stakes are pretty high for our way of life, and livelihood.
