That is a good rate . . . I think no matter where you are. I rented two 172s for $70/hr and the instructor for $30/hr and that's the cheapest in the area.
I'm broadening my horizons, and getting checked out in a Cherokee-140 (I've never flown in a low-wing). The closest/cheapest place is about 35mins down the interstate and rents that and a 172 w/ GPS for $75/hr.
That's pretty good too, considering the 172s I rent for $5 less aren't GPS equipped.
