Sure does. However, depending on how much they charge for the sim and the instructor it may actually be cheaper to go tool around in a plane by yourself to build hours. Thats how it worked out for me.

Frasca 141 ($45) + instructor ($25) = $70 per hour

cessna 152 = $60 per hour

Granted you could count approaches in the sim towards currency.
