My theory (for what it's worth) is if we DO start profiling, the terrorist groups are sure gonna know about it. Then they're going to take the "David Copperfield approach." Basically, they'll send a team of a stereotypical person the KNOW will get profiled and selected with a WASP. Guess who's NOT packing.
