I went to a week long summer seminar thing at the Air Force Academy before my senior year in high school.
We built model rockets in one class. It was a ballistics/rocketry experiment class to see what kind of innovative designs we could come up with.. then launched them on a parade ground to measure distance.
Most put odd wing or canard type devices on a single rocket tube. Most made it halfway down the field.
I won. I built a two-nacelle model with two engines wired together that hit somebody's car on the far end of the field. The instructor looked a little nervous after that.
