Default Re: Academics @ ERAU

First year is a lot of gen ed classes, and those get old. Try to work on your minor as soon as you can, as those classes are usually a blast b/c they are really focused on some small aspect. I wish I had worked on mine sooner, but at least I have some fun ones now.
Get a foreman grill, and a good microwave. You dont want to live off cafeteria food; it is terrible. Ever warmed up 2 week old meat loaf and then had the trots? That's cafeteria food, 7 days a week. Costco will be your friend for frozen food.
Desktop. It is nice to take your comp around with you (ie with a lap), but you'll find there are enough people with laptops who will come to your room, so you can utilize a faster cheaper desktop without loosing any social aspects of a mobile computer.
Dont just take classes you need, take a few every semester that are fun and that interest you. Grinding along with boring classes kills morale, so take something that will perk you up.
Have fun, and skip orientation. I didnt go to mine, and I still met enough people to feel welcome. Meet people in the first few weeks, as everyone seems to be more open when they are n00bs. Dont be shy, as everyone there is as timid as you will be. Joke around, be yourself, and have a great time. I am sure you will love the college experiance, just make sure you surround yourself with good people.
Cheers
